An ounce of practice is better than a ton of knowledge !

What use is it to know the principles if one does not live them ?

It is infinitely better to practise than to preach.

Start of 2012

Meditation is fast becoming very popular and has been attributed to many benefits, aside from the health benefits, meditation helps us become more human, loving, compassionate and peaceful. It improves our ability to concentrate and relax. This then helps us to participate more effectively in life. Start today, settle down comfortably, relax, close your eyes, and take a few moments to be aware of your breath as it goes in and out of the nostrils. See how many rounds of breath you are able to be "present" in and gently bring your awareness back to your breath each time it wanders. Extend the sitting time as you progress and enjoy the benefits !

Roasted baby carrots and beetroots

Pre-heat oven to 180 deg. Place whole baby carrots and diced beets onto separate baking trays, sprinkle with oil, salt to taste and cook until tender. For the dressing, mix 1 t balsamic, 1 t soya sauce, 1t apple juice, quarter cup of water and pour over the cooked veg and serve immediately !!!!!
I usually serve this with a vegan herbed polenta pie . Just brown some onions, add some fresh herbs and cook polenta as usual. Add the herbs and onions to polenta when done and place in a pie dish. Cut into slices and serve with baby carrots and beets . Simply delicious and such a colourful meal. Enjoy, remember the more colour the more the nutritional value.

rules for being human

You will receive a body- you may like it or hate it, but it will be yours for the entire period.
You will learn lessons- you have enrolled in a full-time informal school called life. each day in this school you will have the opportunity to learn lessons. You may like the lessons or think them irrelevant and stupid.
There are no mistakes, only lessons - Growth is a process of trial and error: experimentation. The failed experiments are as much a part of the process as the experiments that ultimately work.
A lesson is repeated until learned - a lesson will be presented to you in various forms until you have learned it. when you have learned it, you can go to the next lesson.
Learning lessons does not end - there is no part of life that does not contain lessons. If you are alive, there are lessons to be learned.
"There" is no better than "here"-when your "there"  has become a "here", you will simply obtain another "there" that will again look better than "here".
Others are merely mirrors of you - you cannot love or hate something about another person unless it reflects something you love or hate about yourself.
What you make of life is up to you- you have all the tools and resources you need. What you do with them is up to you. The choice is yours.
Life is exactly what you think it is - you create a life that matches your beliefs and expectations.
Your answers lie inside you- The answers to life's questions lie inside you.All you need to do is look, listen, and trust.
You will forget all of this.
You can remember it anytime you want.

BALANCE

Our focus for the last weekend retreat was on Balance, both inner and outer, physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. We concentrated on carefully chosen asanas, pranayamas and meditations to encourage and improve this. It is always inspiring to see the improvement and indeed the “growth” as we come to the end of the weekend. As personal trainers , we always told our clients “ What you don’t use you lose !” This applies to everything, even our yoga practice. By maintaining your everyday asana practice, together with one or two pranayamas, you will be able to remain focused, balanced and therefore better able to deal with your hectic daily lives. It really is that simple ! Keep your balance, keep your health, which is, after all , your wealth !

Blessings of the divine, feminine, full moon to you all !
